We had a blast last week in Switzerland to attend the première of the film Fantastique made by Marjolijn Prins and produced by Serendipity Productions. The star of the docufilm, Fanta, was able to travel all the way from Guinea to Locarno to attend the première and participate in the Q&A afterwards.

This project started back in 2019 when Nathalie and Alseny contacted Marjolijn with an idea to make a film about the acrobats in Guinea. Marjolijn traveled with David Dhert to Conakry a first time in January 2019 for the first images and impressions. Over the years, she traveled with different team members to Guinea to keep filming and unravelling the docufilm. She became inspired by the then 9y old Fanta, a young girl who trained with Amoukanama to become an contorsionist. Between all those muscled men, she stood her ground and worked towards her dream. Fanta grew up while filming and as such the storyline became more adolescent.

Today, we are beyond proud to see the result of years of hard work, determination and courage. It was not always an easy road for the team, but together with Marjolijn we always kept believing in the project and today, other young people can experience the fruits of this work. We are proud on the result of the film, how it represents the spirit of the acrobats and the strength of young girls and of dreams. Marjolijn and her team are working hard now to share the film as much as possible. We will keep you updates on other film festivals the film will be screened!
